Affecting Expression: A New Play

A poster for Affecting Expression.

Please join us for the NYC premiere of Affecting Expression—a new play by Eliana Cohen-Orth '21, directed by Eliyana Abraham '23 and produced by Kate Semmens '22—at The Tank October 7th–13th!

Affecting Expression is a new tragicomedy which tells the story of three queer female artists in 1852—actress Charlotte Cushman, writer Matilda Hays, and sculptor Harriet Hosmer— and their multi-layered relationships with each other, art-making, legacy, and home. As the women navigate their intersecting artistic and personal journeys, the walls of their home and boundaries between art and reality become increasingly unreliable.

Affecting Expression stars Nora Aguiar '21, Paige Elizabeth Allen '21, Juliette Carbonnier '24, and Sam Melton '23. The team includes Giao Vu Dinh '24 (Stage Manager), and BT Hayes '22 (Lighting Designer).

We hope to see you in the audience this October!
