Kalliopi Monoyios '00 will be debuting four wild, wearable art pieces at Carbondale Arts' 13th annual Green is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza this spring in Carbondale, CO March 7, 8, and 9, 2024. For 13 years, Carbondale Arts has put on an alluring, dynamic show featuring both local and regional designers and models, dancers and performers with multimedia storytelling. Transforming the Carbondale Rec Center into a glitzy fashion house, this event sells out annually with 600+ tickets sold per night. Proceeds go to supporting Roaring Fork Valley schools. It's not to be missed!
Monoyios' work explores the complexity of our relationship with plastic. This series of wearable art explores the possibilities that might exist if we made longer-term commitments to the things we buy and use: multi-layer plastic food bags become luxury garments, single-use eyedroppers and dental floss become elegant accessories.
