"Manuel vs. the Statue of Liberty" , the musical comedy about immigration, is part of the 4xLatiné series at LaTea, located at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center on the Lower East Side (107 Suffolk Street, NYC).]
Manuel is as American as taco salad and student debt. But to apply to college he'll have to risk coming out as an undocumented immigrant. That's tricky with new immigration laws requiring so called "illegal immigrants" to fight the belting Statue of Liberty in a boxing match for greed cards. The Basic Omnibus Xenophobic Immigration Neutralization Guarantee Act (BOXING Act) has definitely streamlined the immigration process, but not in a good way.
Fifteen minute excerpts from four different musicals comprise the entire program. Monday March 13th, two shows: 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM.
