Jessica Powers '97 has curated the San Antonio Museum of Art's spring 2023 exhibition, "Roman Landscapes: Visions of Nature and Myth from Rome and Pompeii." Artists in Roman Italy created exquisite landscapes that reflect close ties with their environment, ranging from sunny seascapes and tranquil country shrines to vividly imagined views of Greece and Egypt. The exhibition features 66 works including wall paintings, sculptures, and cameo glass and silver vessels dating from 100 BC to AD 250, many shown for the first time in the U.S. on this occasion. "Roman Landscapes" will be on view from February 24-May 21, 2023. A catalogue with essays by Powers, Timothy O'Sullivan '96, Bettina Bergmann, Verity Platt, Lynley McAlpine and Thomas Fröhlich accompanies the exhibition.
