As part of the sixth Yellow Fish Festival, To Stay Alive /| You Must Be Live, Amalya Megerman ’16 will be presenting new performance, installation, and video work at 153 Coffey, in Red Hook, Brooklyn from May 2nd – May 7th. Her work engages themes of anxiety, intergenerational trauma, Jewish ritual, cleansing, and the body.
Over the course of the nine months, Yellow Fish has worked with nine artists across the country and internationally to initiate digital experiments, gather online, & process through a residency period. These artists have participated in a collective experience emphasizing and expanding upon Care Methodologies in respect of the times and in response to the festival theme: To Stay Alive /| You Must Be Live. Now in the final phase of the festival, artists will present site-specific live forms. The live performances will be held inside 153 Coffey, a warehouse located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Open gallery hours for the full show will run from May 2-29, with new work and performances being shown weekly. Please refer to the website for specific performance details and ticketing information.
