The New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra welcomes conductor Felipe Tristán for this concert, featuring the world premiere of Fractured Nation by Arturo O’Farrill. O’Farrill is a pianist, composer, educator, and founder of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. Regarded as “one of the most sought-after Mexican conductors in today’s music scene” by New York Weekly, Tristán has worked with orchestras around the world and currently serves as conductor with the Brooklyn Symphony, Teatro Grattacielo, and Manhattan School of Music Precollege. The concert will also feature the dazzling Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and selections from the beloved Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
