COCO DANCE FESTIVAL GOES ONLINE IN OCTOBER 2020

  • Google Calendar ICS

As the world comes to terms with defining the new normal, the Trinidad and Tobago-based Contemporary Choreographers’ Collective continues to provide platforms for dance artists to respond to their environment in the ways they see and experience it. Besides increasing media focus on stranger-than-fiction events and theories associated with extra-terrestrial phenomena, we have also had to deal with a virus and way of life previously unknown to contemporary humans. Additionally, the alienating and sometimes unidentifiable presence and effects of systemic racism are being confronted in bold new ways.

SMUSH Gallery Presents DanielRose Projects' 'four shores'

DanielRose Projects (Sarah Rose '14 and Ross Daniel) returns to SMUSH Gallery with "four shores," a performance installation evoking a bustling metropolis surrounded by bodies of water, now informed by the social separation of the pandemic. Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion

  • Google Calendar ICS

Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion is a sartorial escapade through the multifaceted representations of contemporary Black style and their cultural significance. The exhibition celebrates the legacy of using personal style to channel self-expression, rebellion, and joy as inspired by movements such as the Harlem Renaissance. Thus giving substance and expansion to the meaning behind making a "fashion statement."
Work by artists from Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion, may be purchased on Artsy.

A portion of art sales proceeds will benefit the Howard University Art Gallery and student programs.
