Bio
Janelle Spence is an avid screenwriter, filmmaker, and arts administrator from New York City. She recently curated and organized the film series “Screening América”, which spanned five months and showcased feature and short films from Latin and South American filmmakers.
At Princeton, Janelle explored her love of the arts through both her academic and extracurricular activities. For her thesis in the Spanish and Portuguese Department she highlighted the erasure of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian filmmakers from the Cuban and Brazilian cinematic climates. For the Music Theater Program, she and two classmates crafted an original Choreopoem exploring the Black women’s experience at Princeton. She was an active member in both Más Flow Dance Company and BodyHype Dance Company, and has choreographed for both.
Janelle is currently in the process of writing television pilots and feature films. She hopes to continue her love of writing and filmmaking as she explores arts administration.
