Ann Tashi Slater '84 spoke with Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat about why death is central to her storytelling and how she finds meaning in the face of impermanence. Danticat is the recipient of a MacArthur "Genius Grant"; other honors include the National Book Critics Circle Award for EVERYTHING INSIDE (2019), a collection of stories, and BROTHER, I'M DYING (2007), a memoir.
