Kelvin Dinkins Jr. '09 Begins Appointment as Executive Director at American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.) at Harvard University

Kelvin Dinkins Jr., Class of 2009, began his appointment as Executive Director at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University on June 1, 2022. He was previously the General Manager of Yale Repertory Theater and Assistant Dean and Acting Chair of Theater Management at David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. Dinkins serves on the Board of Directors for the League of Resident Theatres (LORT) and the Board of Trustees of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), Yale Cabaret, and the Princeton University Triangle Club. He is also the Co-Chair of the LORT Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee where he has developed initiatives to center collective action and raise the racial and gender representation in executive leadership in LORT theaters. While enrolled at Princeton, Kelvin was the president of the Princeton Triangle Club and a frequent performer in many arts groups on campus. His senior thesis included a new musical reinterpreting the Orpheus myth called "Orpheus Waking." He received his A.B. degree in English and received a Certificate in Theatre & Dance from the Lewis Center for the Arts. He earned his M.F.A. in Theatre Management & Producing from Columbia University's School of the Arts. Dinkins joins the American Repertory Theater at an exciting moment, when plans for a new theater in the Allston area of Boston are currently underway. Their current production of the musical 1776 will play in New York City at Roundabout Theatre Company in Fall 2022. Dinkins will serve as Executive Director alongside A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus.
