Yale Cabaret’s Innovative Virtual Season

For the Yale Cabaret’s historic entirely socially distanced 53rd season, the Cab Company (Co-Artistic Director Maeli Goren, ‘15) will produce 15 groundbreaking works of theater that attempt to answer the essential question: what does it mean for theater to be “live,” now? The season also features several ongoing live projects including the food-centric Cab Potluck series and Spark Factory, workshops in innovative theatrical technologies. We encourage bold explorations of new media and works that remind us how theater can connect us in a time of separation. The only limits are our imaginations! 

Alongside the live season, we look forward to featuring installations, visual art, film works, sound compositions, and other pre-existing or pre-recorded works of art in the new virtual Cab Gallery throughout the season. Any artist is welcome to submit work for this space.

In all that we do and make this year, we are committed to leading with actions for justice and liberation. My debut novel, HYSTERIA, is out in the world!

SF Ballet’s popular Off Stage classes and seminars have returned—only this time, they’re virtual! From panels to lectures, interactive events to artist talks, we offer so many ways to learn more about the artists who make magic on stage and to brush up on your ballet history. Fall classes include a chance to learn the basics at Ballet Basics, to dive deep into national styles at Ballet Insights, and to learn all you ever wanted to know about Nutcracker at Ballet Talk. Marisol Rosa-Shapiro '07 Joins Clowns Without Borders USA's Board of Directors

Marisol Rosa-Shapiro '07 has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Clowns Without Borders USA (CWB). CWB aims to build resilience through laughter and to reinforce agency through play amongst all persons, especially children, living in areas of crisis. The organization's volunteer performers and educators serve in refugee camps, conflict zones, areas recovering from natural disaster, and territories in states of emergency. Thurs Oct 8 7 PM Poetry Reading Online: Covid Spring: Granite State Pandemic Poems

Covid Spring: Granite State Pandemic Poems is an anthology of poems by New Hampshire based poets. These poems were written in response to the early days of the pandemic lock-down during the spring of 2020. The free online reading takes place on Thursday October 8, at 7 PM and includes 10 authors from the anthology reading their contributions. COCO DANCE FESTIVAL GOES ONLINE IN OCTOBER 2020

As the world comes to terms with defining the new normal, the Trinidad and Tobago-based Contemporary Choreographers’ Collective continues to provide platforms for dance artists to respond to their environment in the ways they see and experience it. Besides increasing media focus on stranger-than-fiction events and theories associated with extra-terrestrial phenomena, we have also had to deal with a virus and way of life previously unknown to contemporary humans. Additionally, the alienating and sometimes unidentifiable presence and effects of systemic racism are being confronted in bold new ways.

All this has possibly created a future that has been pushed to the outer limits of familiarity and predictability. We don't usually have an overall theme, but this year we've given our COCO DANCE FESTIVAL the name "ALIEN". Luckily, novelty, alienation and dealing with social nuance are the normal extremes of the lives of artists. Join us online on October 24 and 25 to see works by Caribbean choreographers, as well as choreographers from other reaches of the globe.

The Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Dance has opened its free, weekly, virtual drop-in dance classes to all Princeton alumni. Classes are offered in a range of levels and genres of dance and taught by dance faculty and professional instructors. Try out one class or attend an entire series. Art Against Racism:Memorial.Monument.Movement Exhibition National Call for Participation and Action

Art Against Racism, a 501(c)(3) organization, invites you to participate in a nation-wide virtual exhibition of art by artists, community activists, and organizations created in response to the murder of George Floyd. The exhibition launch is on October 17, 2020. We are accepting work until the presidential inauguration but for your work to be considered for the launch, you must upload your work through the Cinebody App to our account or Dropbox ASAP. We are also calling on artists, activists and organizations to host arts events centered around getting out the Vote. Video of these events should be delivered to us in accordance with instructions on www.artagainstracism.com.
